The hair was one of the deciding factors in picking my costume. Mostly it was the hat and knife, though. XD

Yup, blue painting tape. Quick and easy. XD

I actually had to search online forever, because apparently they aren't that common in Florida, either. In the end, it was worth it because it only cost three bucks plus shipping, it's quite cozy, it matched the character fairly well and it's now the closest thing I have to a Jayne hat. Also, one can never have too many hats at one's disposal. NEVER. Anyone who would tell you otherwise is not your friend.
